Build a website with ChatGPT

ChatGPT can write code but it cannot host a site. Connect Kleap and it can: you describe the website, Kleap's AI builder creates it, hosts it on a real URL and publishes it, and ChatGPT keeps editing, fixing SEO and reading your leads afterwards.

Kleap is not in ChatGPT's app directory yet, so you add it yourself. It takes about two minutes.

What you can ask ChatGPT to do

Kleap is an AI website builder. Your agent gives the instructions, Kleap builds, hosts and publishes.

  • Build a site from a sentence

Your agent asks Kleap for a site. Kleap's AI builds it, with hosting, SSL and forms included, and returns a task the agent follows until it is done.

  • Edit what already exists

Find a site by name, address or domain, read its files, change exactly what must change, and keep the rest untouched. Or describe the outcome and let Kleap's AI write it.

  • Publish with proof it is live

A publish is reported as done only once the new version is actually serving at its URL. Your agent never hands you a dead link.

  • Improve SEO, once or on a schedule

Read Google Search Console numbers, find the pages that deserve work, rewrite titles and copy, publish, and report. The same prompt can run every day.

  • Read leads and traffic

Form submissions, visitors, pageviews and top pages come back as plain data your agent can summarise, answer or act on.

  • Domains, without surprise bills

The agent can search and connect domains. Buying one always goes through a payment link that you pay yourself, so nothing is bought on its own.

Connect Kleap to ChatGPT in four steps

Kleap is not in ChatGPT's app directory yet, so you add it as a custom MCP server. You sign in to Kleap in your browser; there is no key to copy.

  1. Copy Kleap's connector URL

This is Kleap's remote MCP server. It speaks OAuth with dynamic client registration, so you never enter a client ID or a secret.

    Server URL
    https://kleap.co/api/mcp
  2. Add it as a custom MCP server

In ChatGPT on the web, open Plugins (chatgpt.com/plugins), click the plus button and choose Add custom MCP server. Name it Kleap, paste the URL as the Server URL, choose OAuth for authentication, accept the risk warning and click Create as a plugin. Then install it from your personal plugins before you use it in a conversation.

  3. Sign in to Kleap and approve

ChatGPT opens kleap.co. Sign in, or create a free account, and approve access. The agent can only ever touch your own Kleap sites, and you can revoke it later from your Kleap settings.

  4. Ask for a site

Start a new chat, make sure the Kleap plugin is enabled for it, and describe what you want. A first build takes several minutes; ChatGPT follows the build task and comes back with the live link.

Prompts to try in ChatGPT

Copy one, change the details to yours, and send it. Each one names what you want and what done looks like.

Build a site

Use Kleap to build a one-page website for my bakery in Lyon: a hero, the menu with prices, opening hours and a contact form. Warm colours. When the build is done, publish it and give me the live link.

Edit an existing site

Find my Kleap site called Bakery. Change the hero headline to "Roasted slow, baked fresh" and add Saturday opening hours, 8:00 to 14:00. Publish it and confirm it is live.

Fix SEO

Use Kleap to check how my site did in Google Search over the last 28 days. Take the page with the most impressions and the weakest click-through rate, rewrite its title and meta description for the query people actually use, publish it and tell me what you changed.

Answer your leads

Show me the contact form submissions my Kleap site received since last Monday, newest first, and draft a short reply to each one.

Find a domain

Search for available domain names for my bakery and give me the payment link for the best .com. Do not buy anything yourself.

SEO on a schedule

Run the SEO work every day

ChatGPT can run a prompt on a schedule (scheduled tasks). Kleap's founder runs a daily ChatGPT task like this on client sites through the Kleap connector. Create a task, paste the prompt below and pick a time. OpenAI decides which connectors a scheduled run may use, and it can pause to ask you to approve actions that change data. Run the task once by hand and read the result before you rely on it.

Scheduled prompt

Every morning, go through my Kleap sites one by one. For each site: 1. Read the last 28 days with get_search_console and get_analytics. 2. Pick the one page with the most impressions that still sits between position 5 and 20, or whose title does not match the query it ranks for. 3. Read that page with read_files and improve its title, meta description, H1, intro, internal links and FAQ so they answer that query better, in the site's own voice. 4. Push the change with write_files, then publish_app and confirm with get_publish_status. 5. Send me a summary: site, page, query, what changed. Never invent statistics or testimonials, never change a site's design, and touch at most two pages per site per run.

Google Search Console must be connected to the site for the search data. If it is not, Kleap hands the agent a consent link for you to open.

Good to know

  • Kleap is not listed in ChatGPT's app directory yet. Until it is, you add it as a custom MCP server.
  • OpenAI has renamed the screen where you add it more than once (Connectors, Apps, Plugins). If yours looks different, look for custom MCP server or custom connector. Which plans can add one is up to OpenAI and, in a workspace, to your admin.
  • Domain purchases always go through a Stripe payment link that you pay. ChatGPT cannot buy anything on its own.

Official documentation: Add a custom MCP server in ChatGPT (OpenAI).

ChatGPT and Kleap: questions

Can ChatGPT build a website?

On its own ChatGPT writes code, but nothing hosts it. With Kleap connected it asks Kleap to build the site, host it on a kleap.io address or your own domain, and publish it. Kleap reports the site as live only once it is actually serving.

Do I need an API key?

No. The connector signs you in with OAuth in your browser, so there is nothing to copy. An API key (kleap_live_sk_…, created at https://kleap.co/settings/api-key) is only for unattended jobs, scripts and clients that cannot open a browser. Pick the narrowest preset: Read-only to inspect sites, Build to change and publish them.

Is Kleap in the ChatGPT app directory?

Not yet. For now you add it yourself as a custom MCP server with the URL on this page. Your Kleap account and sites stay the same either way.

Which ChatGPT plan do I need?

OpenAI controls who can add custom MCP servers, and the menu has changed names several times. Check OpenAI's guide linked below for your plan. In a Business or Enterprise workspace, an admin may have to allow it.

Can ChatGPT edit a site I already built in Kleap?

Yes. It lists your sites or finds one by name or address, reads the files, changes only what must change, then republishes. You can also describe the outcome and let Kleap's AI write the change.

Does it cost anything to connect Kleap?

Connecting is free. Building and AI edits draw on your Kleap usage, and the free plan includes some. If your agent writes the files itself with write_files, Kleap does not run its own AI for that step. Publishing on a Kleap address is free. See the pricing page for each plan.

Using another agent?

Same Kleap account, same sites. See all the agent guides or the MCP, CLI and skills reference.
