The short answer

A Hostinger domain does not lock you into Hostinger Website Builder. Keep the domain and its renewals in hPanel, then use Kleap to generate and publish your business website. After publishing, add the domain in Kleap Settings → Domains. In Hostinger, open Domains → Domain portfolio → Manage → DNS / Nameservers → DNS records. Point A @ to 178.104.71.55. Delete a conflicting www CNAME before adding A www to the same address. Hostinger also recommends removing outdated A and AAAA records when changing the web host. Leave MX and mail-related TXT records untouched. If the nameservers point elsewhere, make these changes at that DNS provider instead. When the records resolve publicly, Kleap provisions SSL automatically.

Step 2 · describe the business

The domain is waiting. Build what goes behind it.

The first version is generated before you change any DNS record.

The complete route

From a name you bought to a secure live site

  1. 01

    Keep the domain in hPanel

Hostinger remains the registrar; no domain transfer or new purchase is needed.

  2. 02

    Build with Kleap AI

Describe the activity and let Kleap create the structure, copy, and visual direction.

  3. 03

    Publish the Kleap version

The site must be live before connect_domain attaches the custom hostname.

  4. 04

    Update hPanel DNS

Point both @ and www to 178.104.71.55; remove conflicting web records.

  5. 05

    Let Kleap finish TLS

Kleap validates public DNS, routes the hostnames, and provisions the certificate.

Where to click in Hostinger

Hostinger's DNS Zone Editor separates the domain address from the service it points to. The relevant fields are Type, Name, Points to, and TTL. Only the web records need to move.

Hostinger: How to manage A records

Official documentation checked August 28, 2026.

1

Confirm where DNS is active

If the domain uses Hostinger nameservers, edit it in hPanel. If its nameservers point elsewhere, edit the records at that provider.

2

Update the root domain

Find or add an A record with Name @ and Points to 178.104.71.55. Use the default TTL.

3

Replace the www alias

Hostinger requires deleting an existing www CNAME before adding A www → 178.104.71.55.

4

Remove web conflicts, not email

Remove outdated A/AAAA records for @ or www. Keep MX and email authentication TXT records.

Propagation: Hostinger advises allowing up to 24 hours for DNS changes to propagate fully.

What changes — and what stays

The website moves. Domain ownership and email do not.

You keep

  • Hostinger domain ownership and renewal
  • The active nameservers
  • Hostinger Email or third-party MX/TXT records
  • Unrelated subdomains and verification records

You change

  • A @ → 178.104.71.55
  • A www → 178.104.71.55
  • Conflicting Hostinger CDN, A, AAAA, ALIAS, or www CNAME records
  • No MX/TXT mail records

Troubleshooting

If the domain does not show the site yet

hPanel changes have no effect

Check the domain's nameservers. Records saved at Hostinger are inactive while authoritative nameservers point elsewhere.

The www A record cannot be added

Delete the existing www CNAME first. A hostname cannot have a CNAME and another record type at the same time.

The old Hostinger site still loads

Disable conflicting Hostinger CDN/web records and wait for cached answers to reach their TTL.

Common questions

Before you touch DNS

Do I need to move my Hostinger domain?

No. Keep the domain and renewal in Hostinger. Only the website's DNS records point to Kleap.

Is Hostinger hosting required?

No. The domain registration and website hosting are separate. Kleap builds and hosts the published site.

What exact hPanel records should I add?

Use A @ → 178.104.71.55 and A www → 178.104.71.55. No CNAME is required by connect_domain.

Will Hostinger Email keep working?

Yes, if you keep the existing MX, SPF, DKIM, and DMARC records. Do not reset or replace the whole DNS zone.
