Compress Image to 100 KB

For upload portals, ID and visa photos and profile pictures that must stay under 100 KB. Add your images and download JPGs that fit, checked to the byte.

Maximum file size

Every file comes out at 100,000 bytes or less, so it passes forms that count 1 KB as 1,000 or as 1,024 bytes.

KB

or drop them here, or paste with Ctrl+V. JPG, PNG, WebP, up to 20 at once. They never leave your device.

How it works

  1. Pick the size

100 KB is selected. Choose another preset or type your own limit if your form asks for something else.

  2. Add your images

Choose files, drop them on the box or paste a screenshot. Up to 20 at once, nothing is uploaded.

  3. Download

Each file is checked against the limit and named after it, like photo-50kb.jpg. Several files come as one ZIP.

Where you meet a 100 KB limit

One hundred kilobytes is a common ceiling on government services, university and job portals, some visa applications and HR systems: enough for a clear photo or a readable ID card, small enough for slow connections. When a form takes several files, like a photo, a signature and an ID proof, it often caps each one at 100 KB.

Photos and scans under 100 KB

  • A face photo almost always fits 100 KB at high quality once it is cropped. The tool keeps the original dimensions whenever it can.
  • For an ID card or a single page, crop the edges of the table or desk away; they add nothing and cost bytes.
  • Text stays readable at 100 KB for a card or a short page. For a full A4 page full of small text, try the 200 KB page if the form allows it.
  • Converting several files for the same form? Add them all, then download one ZIP with each file named after its limit.

How many pixels fit in 100 KB

At JPEG quality 80, 100 KB holds a photo about 860 to 1,140 pixels on its long side, enough for a sharp full-screen view on a phone. Compared with the other limits:

Largest long side of a photo that fits each size at JPEG quality 80
LimitLong side at good quality
20 KB330 – 470 px
50 KB560 – 770 px
100 KB860 – 1,140 px
200 KB1,170 – 1,600 px

For reference: measured on five real photos (landscapes, a workshop interior, a screenshot) at JPEG quality 80. A plain background fits more pixels, a busy one fewer. The tool itself keeps the full size whenever a quality of at least 50 fits, and only then shrinks.

Questions

How do I make a JPG under 100 KB?
Add your image with 100 KB selected. The tool tries quality settings until it finds the best one under 100,000 bytes and only reduces the dimensions if that is not enough. Download the file, or all files as one ZIP.
Can I compress a scanned PDF to 100 KB here?
Not a PDF itself: this tool works on images (JPG, PNG, WebP). If your scan is a PDF, export the page as an image first, or scan it again as a JPG, then compress it here.
Will the text on my ID card stay readable?
Yes for an ID card at 100 KB: a card is small, so it keeps a high resolution. Crop the card tightly and photograph it flat, without glare, for the best result.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. Choose images opens your gallery or camera, compression runs on the phone itself and the downloaded file lands in your downloads folder, ready to attach.
Is 1 KB 1,000 or 1,024 bytes?
Both are in use, and forms rarely say which. That's why the tool aims under the stricter one: a 50 KB file here is at most 50,000 bytes, which is also under 51,200 bytes. The exact byte count is shown next to every result.
Are my photos uploaded anywhere?
No. The page compresses them inside your browser with the canvas built into it. Your files never reach a server, so ID cards, signatures and certificates stay on your device. You can even switch off your connection once the page has loaded.
