Compress Image to 200 KB

Enough room for a full page that stays readable: certificates, mark sheets, address proofs and photos for email or the web. Add your files and download JPGs under 200 KB.

Maximum file size

Every file comes out at 200,000 bytes or less, so it passes forms that count 1 KB as 1,000 or as 1,024 bytes.

KB

or drop them here, or paste with Ctrl+V. JPG, PNG, WebP, up to 20 at once. They never leave your device.

How it works

  1. Pick the size

200 KB is selected. Choose another preset or type your own limit if your form asks for something else.

  2. Add your images

Choose files, drop them on the box or paste a screenshot. Up to 20 at once, nothing is uploaded.

  3. Download

Each file is checked against the limit and named after it, like photo-50kb.jpg. Several files come as one ZIP.

When 200 KB is the limit

Document uploads are usually allowed more room than photos: 200 KB is a frequent limit for scanned certificates, mark sheets, caste or income certificates, address proofs and experience letters, as well as for images on many websites and marketplaces. It is also a good size for photos you send by email: sharp on screen, light to attach.

Keeping a scanned page readable

  • Scan or photograph the page flat, filling the frame, under even light. Shadows and a dark desk around the page waste most of the file.
  • A scanner app that whitens the background cuts the size a lot before you even compress.
  • Small print needs pixels: at 200 KB the tool can usually keep a full page at about 1,200 pixels or more on its long side, enough to read normal text.
  • Several pages for the same field? Most forms want one file per page; add them all and download them as a ZIP.

How many pixels fit in 200 KB

At JPEG quality 80, 200 KB holds a photo about 1,170 to 1,600 pixels on its long side; in our test most photos fit at their original size. Compared with the other limits:

Largest long side of a photo that fits each size at JPEG quality 80
LimitLong side at good quality
20 KB330 – 470 px
50 KB560 – 770 px
100 KB860 – 1,140 px
200 KB1,170 – 1,600 px

For reference: measured on five real photos (landscapes, a workshop interior, a screenshot) at JPEG quality 80. A plain background fits more pixels, a busy one fewer. The tool itself keeps the full size whenever a quality of at least 50 fits, and only then shrinks.

Questions

How do I compress a document to 200 KB?
Take a flat, well-lit photo or scan of the page, crop it to the edges of the paper and add it here with 200 KB selected. The tool keeps the highest quality that fits, and you can check the text on the preview before downloading.
My certificate is a PDF. Can I use it?
This tool reads images (JPG, PNG, WebP), not PDFs. Export or screenshot the PDF page as an image at a good size, then compress that image here.
Is 200 KB enough for a full-page scan?
Usually yes for a typed page. A page full of small print or a colourful certificate is heavier; if the result tells you it was scaled down, check that the smallest text is still readable before you upload.
Can I use these images on my website?
Yes, 200 KB is a sensible size for a full-width photo on a web page. For thumbnails and small images, a lower limit like 50 or 100 KB loads faster.
Is 1 KB 1,000 or 1,024 bytes?
Both are in use, and forms rarely say which. That's why the tool aims under the stricter one: a 50 KB file here is at most 50,000 bytes, which is also under 51,200 bytes. The exact byte count is shown next to every result.
Are my photos uploaded anywhere?
No. The page compresses them inside your browser with the canvas built into it. Your files never reach a server, so ID cards, signatures and certificates stay on your device. You can even switch off your connection once the page has loaded.
